Along-awaited peace summit between Prince Harry and King Charles may take place this September, according to one royal expert, but doubts remain about whether it’s a wise move for the monarch.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield told Sky News Australia that a brief father-son reunion could be on the cards during Harry’s trip to the UK for the annual WellChild Awards.

Prince Harry and King Charles’ peace summit could ‘happen’ in September

“It could happen in September, during the WellChild Awards. A quick meet and greet with King Charles and Prince Harry, depending on the king’s schedule,” Kinsey said.

However, she warned that the king, 76, would be taking a risk by agreeing to any private meeting, citing alleged trust issues within the royal family.

She also claimed that she believed that Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, had leaked details about a recent “peace summit” to the press.

It could happen in September, during the WellChild Awards.

“I do believe the Sussexes leaked this story, which goes to prove they can’t be trusted,” Kinsey claimed. “Why would the king risk anything by meeting with Harry or Meghan, and have Harry and Meghan, or their friends, discuss what happened at that meeting?”

The alleged “peace summit” refers to a quiet meeting earlier this month between Harry’s top aides, Meredith Maines and Liam Maguire, and the king’s communications secretary, Tobyn Andreae. They were all pictured together at the Royal Over-Seas League, just minutes from Clarence House.

Sources described it as a tentative step toward reconciliation.

Despite the efforts, reportedly neither Prince William nor Princess Kate’s teams were involved.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘frustrated’ over leak of ‘peace summit’

According to The Telegraph, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly “frustrated” that news of the meeting leaked. But Kinsey is unconvinced.

Despite the ongoing tensions between Harry and his family, the Duke of Sussex has expressed his desire for peace.

In an interview with the BBC in May, he said: “There’s no point continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I would love reconciliation with my family.”

He added that he had “forgiven” his relatives for their past disagreements, but claimed that King Charles still “won’t speak” to him.

The September trip would mark the first in-person encounter between Harry and Charles in 18 months.

Whether the king agrees to a meeting remains uncertain, particularly as the monarch will host US President Donald Trump for a state visit on September 17.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams previously noted that while King Charles would likely want a relationship with his youngest son, and with his grandchildren, the issue of trust remains a major obstacle.

“Trusting the Sussexes is out of the question,” he told Fox News Digital. “Reconciliation is desirable, but it is considered unlikely that William wants any contact. Turbulent times lie ahead.”
